Furano is a basin in central Hokkaido, which is located between the Tokachi mountain range, a part of Daisetsuzan National Park, and the Yubari mountain range dominated by Mt. Ashibetsu. Its continental climate due to its inland location brings four distinctive seasons to this area. It is especially known for its beautiful fields of lavender in summer and dry powder snow for skiing and snowboarding in winter.
